The weight loss products JaDera and Xiyouji Qingzhi have been voluntarily recalled by Florida Dolphin Intertrade Corp., the company that distributes them. They are recalling the product, A.P. reports, because each could pose dangers for certain patients. On Friday Florida Dolphin Intertrade Corp. announced that these weight loss products contain Sibutramin, a substance that works to control obesity. Sibutramin is not declared to be in these products on the label and is no longer an approved substance for weight loss. Sibutramin not approved for weight loss In 2010, Sibutramin was removed from the U.S. market because for some patients it had been found to dramatically increase blood pressure and pulse. Further, as A.P. reported, "patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmia or stroke" may be at greater risk if they take a product containing Sibutramin.
